Class notes 2/11

Couple things from tonight…

Next week, have all assignments through February 11 shot. See the list here:

So that includes Still Life Food and Kitchen Imagination.

You can get started on the Window Light portrait if you want so you don’t get too far behind when we start to play catchup.

We’ll try to get them all edited next week, but we’ll see how far we can get.

Be sure to have the HDR shots done.. we’ll practice that with Photoshop.

I’m going to try to find a good HDR tutorial on YouTube and post it to the website. If you find a good one that helped, send me a link!

Be sure to watch the Lightroom videos I linked to if you haven’t already.

Last, a few people asked about open lab hours. David says during the day is fine, but just email him to make sure he’ll be there to have it unlocked. His email is dkpurdy@dmacc.edu.

The hour before our class is good too.

No class Feb 4

Hi folks,

Well, I’ve never had class that met once a week cancelled twice in a row! Gotta love snow, right?

I’ve had a couple people express interest in meeting this Saturday at 10am at the Capitol (we could meet just inside the security on the bottom floor… parking is easy on the east side of the building. Head to the door on the south side of the building to get in).

Please RSVP if you haven’t already. It will be pretty informal but give yourself at least an hour there. I will demo a few things.

If you’ve never been there… it’s a fantastic place to shoot.

For those that can’t make it Saturday, we can try to find another time in the upcoming weeks.

Regarding assignments, we’ll play catch-up as best we can. Don’t worry about things being late.

The Still Life Food and Kitchen Imagination are definitely ones you can shoot on your own in the meantime:

How about as a homework assignment, you find an interesting photography-related video and send me the link! I’ll share the best ones I get. 🙂

Please send me any questions you might have or feel free to call…. 319-290-8229.

See you on the 11th (I hope). We will do a quiz on Chapter 3 (maybe 4 & 5 as well), talk about lenses, HDR, composition, and more Lightroom tips.

A reminder that even though our class is scheduled until 10pm,  by 8pm or 8:30pm we’ll be in “lab” time, editing and working on photos and uploading to Flickr.

If you want to upload some shots I will take a look and give comments. I should see it come up on Flickr automatically but you can shoot me an email making sure I know you uploaded some work. It won’t count against your grade if there are problems at this point. 🙂
